Sunny days (of which we are having a lot of recently) prompt me to ditch heavier make up and switch things up for a more glowy, fresh look which is more in keeping with the weather outside. Read on for my top 3 products to add a bit of glow into your everyday routine….
Tinted moisturiser and a slick of concealer is about all I can reach for at the moment on the make up front but skin care wise I’ve ramped things up a bit to get my skin looking its absolute best. One cult product which is playing a large part in this, and that I’ve never got around to trying until now is Alpha H’s Liquid Gold. Liquid Gold is a night-time treatment chemical exfoliator, with the main ingredient being glycolic acid (5%), which you sweep all over your face last thing at night and leave the glycolic to do its magic and nibble away at the dead skin cells, washing it off in the morning. The instructions state to cleanse and then apply the product as the last step in your night-time routine. I was hesitant at first, as my last step usually is to slather my face in some sort of treatment oil, however having read many a rave review I followed suit. Despite not applying any moisturising product my skin did not feel overly dry. There was a definitive tingle on application, which I personally like as you know the product is working, but no irritation or redness. I woke up to smoother skin which felt more even in texture and generally brighter – it didn’t disappoint! I’ve been using this about twice a week now for a month and am really enjoying the results and the added bonus of feeling confident with minimal make up.
If you feel your skin needs a bit of an extra perk up in the form of glow then let me point you in the direction of the Shimmering Skin Perfecters from Becca Cosmetics. I have the shade Moonstone which is a beautiful pale gold highlighter which, swept over the high points of your face, shimmers on the skin without looking glittery or sparkly. It also works well as a subtle eye shadow and paired with minimal make up adds that extra touch of glow. Becca also make their skin perfecters in the same shades in liquid form which look and feel amazing. Personally the liquid version doesn’t suit my combination skin type as well as the powder version but if your skin leans towards being dry you might want to try this version instead. Top tip – Space NK now stock the powder version in a mini size (linked above) which is more than big enough to last the summer, the perfect size to pop into a holiday make up bag and slightly more budget friendly!
My final pick is Essie’s nail polish in ‘Bikini so teeny‘ which is a gorgeous cornflower blue with just a hint of sparkle running through it. It’s one of those nail varnishes that looks slightly different in different lights but never fails to brighten up an outfit and looks great on fingers and toes. In the sunshine it has an almost iridescent hue which looks stunning. For an at home manicure I recommend pairing this with Aldi’s gel manicure top coat which I can honestly say is one of the best top coats for nails I’ve used and prevents chipping or flaking for days (and is an absolute steal at £1.50!)
Let me know if you try any of these products out or what your top tips are for adding some glow into your every day skincare or makeup routine!
